Baby Shower Plant-Based Brunch Menu
We’ve finally planned and celebrated our Baby Shower with our friends and family; we decided to do pretty much everything ourselves whether it was the decorations, the invitations or the menu and the food. We wanted to keep to a budget, and as much as the planning can be stressful, I like to have everything under control, as I always have a crystal clear picture of what I want. When it comes to food and drinks, after discussing with my husband, we knew that we wanted a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, so we decided to do a big brunch on a Sunday afternoon.
The food and drinks were entirely plant-based, which was very important to us, as we wanted the whole party to resonate with our growing family, but also, wanted to show people that being on a plant-based diet doesn’t mean eating only lettuce - in France, veganism is still not well known, nor received, and people still remain full of wrong assumptions.
We came up with a menu of things we love to eat on a daily basis, and have made the food ourselves. We only had required services for beautiful sweets: the cake, a variety of cupcakes, and personalized and well-detailed cookies.
Here is the 100% vegan food list from our Baby Shower!
Note: Unfortunately, we weren’t able to capture every type of food or drinks as it was quite a busy day, with crazy amounts of food, family and friends; we decided to spend a lovely afternoon with our loved ones instead of focusing on the pictures as much, but we still captured a few, and here they are.
We’ve mixed a few cultures by deciding to make and put out on the big day, all of our favorite foods on the same table: South American cuisine, Middle Eastern cuisine, and French cuisine.
As we had a lot to do, and didn’t hire help, we started making a few of the dishes (essentially the dips) a few days ahead, freeze them, and defrost them over night before the day of the party. It worked very well, and we wouldn’t have been able to have that many different type of foods if we hadn’t done it this way; so if you decided to do everything on your own, this is the way to go, trust me, you’ll have plenty to get done in the morning of your Baby Shower already.
Middle Eastern Cuisine
Muhammara, Hummus (roasted beetroot, coriander and lime, roasted peppers, jalapeño and habanero), Mutabbal, Pita Chips, and a gigantic Vegetable Platter with homemade Persian Pickles.
South American Cuisine
Pico de Gallo on Toast, Salsa Sauce, Salsa Verde, Guacamole and Tortillas.
French Cuisine (South of France)
Socca, Pissaladière, Crackers with Fresh Herbs, and Tapenade.
Misc.
Mini sandwiches, and tons of healthy crackers and chips to dip into all those hummus and sauces.
On the same note as every other food, we kept it as healthy as possible, fully plant-based and homemade, beside the main cake, the cupcakes and baby shower themed cookies which were made by culinary artists located in the South of France.
Lemon and Cinnamon Cookies, Fruit Cupcakes, Berries Muffins, Almond Butter and Cacao Muffins, Crepes Skewers, Orange Blossom Brioche, Hazelnut and Chocolate Cake, and Chocolate Dips with Fresh Fruits.
If it was only us, we wouldn’t have gone for any alcohol, but our guests wouldn’t have been too keen on that, so we decided to please them, and keep it bubbly, and went for champagne only on top of what we had planned:
Infused Waters (raspberries and mint, strawberries and basil, blueberries and orange), Homemade Lemonade, Alcohol Free Pina Colada, Moroccan Mint Tea and Champagne.
