Our Sustainable Baby Shower

This week (and the past one) have been full on emotions, decisions making, hours in the kitchen, and trips from one store to another, as well as creating decor for our Baby Shower.

My husband and I decided to do near to everything ourselves, with the help of the future grandparents, from food to decorations, invitations and everything that goes into planning a Baby Shower. We had the big idea in mind from the very beginning (and certainly even prior to getting this growing baby in my belly!), and came up with more detailed plans as we were going whether it was the menu, the decor, the music, games etc.

If you’ve been following our pregnancy adventures on the website, you know that we had picked a pretty simple concept for our Baby Shower: nature, woodland animals, and a predominantly white theme. When it comes to food, we decided to go for a full on plant-based menu as we wanted something that resonate with our family, as well as prove to the people in France that are not to comfortable nor educated on the vegan lifestyle and plant-based diet, that vegan food goes way beyond carrots and lettuce.

This is some pictures of our party, feel free to get inspired and take some ideas here and there.

As I mentioned in a previous article, we decided to send the front page through email, and print only a dozen for our family (grand-parents, my siblings, and for us to put on our baby photo album, baby’s box etc.).

Sustainable Baby Shower, Decor

We’ve only opted for a bunch of balloons that would match the theme, some wild flowers, and my husband and I have built pretty much everything else from scratch. We had planned for much more, but we didn’t get the chance to do it all as we had a lot to do on the Baby Shower’s Day and run out of time.

A few pictures of the preparations that started several weeks prior the Baby Shower day.

And the result on the baby Shower day
We revealed our son’s name to our family and closest friends during the baby shower, but we’ve decided not to share it on the internet at the moment; So we aren’t able to show you the finish product of our main handiwork, but it was beautiful and making it was a nice process that we both enjoy doing for him. We replaced the fresh flowers and leaves with some that will last to add in to the nursery.

Our Sustainable Baby Shower, And How To Plan Yours

We decided to get ready for the usual talk about veganism and how safe it is (especially when you’re expecting) and go for a fully vegan brunch for several reasons, mainly because we wanted to do something that resonate to our growing family - for a more detailed narrative.
We came up with the menu (a mix of our favorite dishes from places around the world we lived in and/or traveled to), it took us a few try to came up with the perfect recipes we wanted, and several days later our kitchen became a very busy place at home to get everything (or so) ready on time.
I’ll only post a few of my favorite pictures in here, but you can read about the full menu (and all the photos) right here.
