The Start of Spring in Our Home
Spring, Here
Each season brings its own set of goods and charm.
Fall feels cinematic and cozy at the same time, winter festive and magical.
But living in the UK for the moment, it’s spring (and what follows it) that we wait for most.
There’s a particular moment when it begins: not a date, nor a temperature. But when the mornings start to sound different.
Birds return to the edges of the day, waking us along our biological clocks (and sometimes, alarms). The air softens and becomes pleasant rather than something to adjust to. The land stops looking tired — as if finally breathing again after holding itself tight for too long.
After months of grey, white, brown and mud, green starts pushing through almost shyly, as if testing whether it’s allowed back. And with it, something in us lifts. The world hasn’t changed overnight, it’s simply waking up again. We join it without realizing we were holding our breath too.

For our family, spring is physical: skin finally feeling natural warmth, days spent outdoors without counting hours or planning breaks. Children spilling into fields, hedges, puddles; learning without instruction, guided by what is alive and moving.
Insects return. Leaves unfold. Flower buds emerge. Fragrances resurface. Meals lighten. Doors stay open longer than intended.
There’s a universal generosity to this season. God doesn’t rush it. Nothing arrives fully formed. Growth happens underground first, unseen and uncelebrated, until one day it is undeniably there. Creation does what it was made to do without anxiety, yet with strength.
Spring reminds us of our place in that order. Not as controllers, but as caretakers.
We prepare, we mend what winter strained. We tend the land, the home, the body. We notice what needs attention instead of chasing what merely looks appealing. Stewardship becomes instinctive again when the world itself is cooperating.
This season isn’t about pretending everything is new. It’s about returning to what’s been forming all along.

This Spring section is meant to be lived in.
Guides, learning, preparation, work, beauty as orientation.
A way of stepping back into life as it reopens around us.
Spring returns, and so do we.
To the fields. To the work. To the warmth on our skin.
And that is where this season begins for us.
